American Hair Research Society Membership

At the American Hair Research Society, we would like to share our enthusiasm for the new and exciting advances achieved by the organization and invite you to join us as a new member. New members can help further the field of hair and scalp disorders.

Information About the AHRS

The AHRS was founded in 1990 by a group of dermatologists dedicated to furthering research in hair-related disorders. We have evolved to become a well-established nonprofit organization composed of basic scientists, physicians involved in clinical research, dermatopathologists, and industry partners who aim to promote and advance knowledge of hair biology, research in hair-related areas, and therapy or hair disorders.

Membership Types

Active Membership

This is limited to scientists and physicians engaged in basic or clinical research who will contribute scientifically to the activities of the AHRS. Active members have the right to attend membership meetings, vote, hold office, accept appointment to committees and councils, and are obligated to pay dues and fees for social events.

Trainee Membership

Physicians in training posts, such as residents or fellows, and post-doctoral fellows who are engaged in basic or clinical research can become trainee members. They may attend membership meetings and participate in discussions. While they are not obligated to pay dues, they must pay registration and social events fees.

Honorary Membership

Physicians and scientists engaged in basic and/or clinical research related to hair are eligible for honorary membership. Honorary membership implies that the member can contribute scientifically to the activities of the Society. Honorary Members shall have the right to attend membership meetings, to participate in discussions and to accept appointment to committees and councils. Honorary Members shall be obligated to observe all Bylaws and regulations imposed by the Society. Honorary Members shall not be obligated to pay dues or assessments but shall be required to pay registration fees and fees for social events.

All members are eligible to attend the business and scientific luncheon of the AHRS held during the American Academy of Dermatology. They can also attend the annual business and scientific meeting held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Society for Investigative Dermatology.

Members have access to the password-protected side of the AHRS website. They can then access frequent updates on research advances, research opportunities, therapeutic advances, hair disorders registries, and the chat room or bulletin boards.
